Gilles Rougon is currently Interdisciplinary Design Manager for EDF R&D. By working both with in-house designers and design consultants he is in charge of defining, leading and developing design processes and design added value for research and corporate projects focusing on various energy issues. Indeed EDF Group is the World’s largest power company operating in Europe, Asia and the U.S.A.. Gilles joined EDF in 1999 to introduce industrial design in the R&D Direction. In 2008 EDF was recognized by a DME award for having implemented a sustainable design approach. Prior to EDF, Gilles has firstly worked as an industrial designer for PSA Peugeot Citroën. In 1998 he re-designed for the Gunnebo Group a fire-resistant cabinet whose sales annual target was achieved in 3 months. He was graduated as a designer and an engineer. Gilles is a Founding member of the “designcode” collective of design managers. Elected as a 2015-2017 Board member of WDO (World Design Organization) he is also a member of the boards of APCI and the French School EnsAD, formerly a member of the Design Management Institute. Besides Gilles contributes to promote industrial design as a lecturer, a teacher, a writer and a consultant. Using design as a driver of change from visionary and strategic questioning to concrete problem solving Gilles strives for delivering useful and effective solutions for the end user such as for every stakeholders.
