On 30 August, four representatives of the Swedish cultural organisation “Kultur i Väst ” (culture in the west) from Gothenburg joined ecce for a first get-together. After a presentation about the history and objectives of ecce, the Creative.Quarters Ruhr funding programme and the NICE Network  and Award , the guests Karin Lundmark, Eva Pettersson, Helen Liljedal and Rebekka Rundberg introduced their organisation to the ecce team.

The focus of Kultur i Väst is on mediation and consulting. They see themselves as “lobbyists for culture” raising awareness, for example, among municipalities or municipal institutions for the potential and opportunities facilitated by culture and the creative industries for a region – including spillover effects into other areas such as business or health. Apart from reaching out to municipalities and local politicians, their work encompasses supporting artists and creative organisations.

Following the presentations, ecce and Kultur i Väst discussed regional differences as well as commonalities in each other’s work in a dialogue setting. We would like to thank them for our open and informative exchange and look forward to further cooperation in the future.
