Philipp Steffens

Philipp Steffens is an industrial designer, head of the CAD and VR laboratory at the Folkwang University in Essen and is also involved in KölnDesign, a regional association of photographers, designers and artists from Cologne and the surrounding area.

Philipp Steffens was born in Bochum in 1964. After graduating from high school, he first completed an apprenticeship as a piano maker in Berlin. Later he studied Industrial Design in Wuppertal and Saint Etienne (F). In addition to working as a freelance consultant and product designer, he has been teaching design students in the field of CAD and rapid prototyping since April 2000 - first at the University of Duisburg-Essen, then at the University of Bolzano (I) and since 2008 at the Folkwang University of the Arts. Since 2014 he has also been a volunteer for KölnDesign, a regional association of photographers, artists and designers.
