What is Music Moves Europe?

Music Moves Europe is a pilot programme of the European Commission with which a new sector-specific support and funding area is to be set-up within the Creative Europe Programme. Since 2015, representatives from the music sector have been working together to find out which funding requirements exist that are now to be successively tested in practice – in 2019 and 2020, calls will be published on a pilot basis for the submission of project ideas, which could then lead to an independent funding programme from 2021 onwards.

The objective is to build on and strengthen the sector’s strong assets such as creativity and innovation as well as to protect the diversity of the European music scene and to help the industry benefit from digitisation. Furthermore, several studies are being funded within the scope of the pilot programme on the challenges and opportunities for the European music sector. First study results are expected by the end of the year.

Calls for Tenders in 2019

After the first two calls for proposals were published in 2018 (you can find the selection results here and here), a total of six calls for the submission of project ideas have been issued for 2019. The funding volume totals three million euros.
