Since the beginning of April, ecce has been working on a co-operation project with WAM Die Medienakademie. It aims to educate students about the significance of regional culture and creative industry as well as on ecce’s activities, such as the annual Conference Forum Europe Ruhr (the former Forum d’Avignon Ruhr) as well as the NICE network (with a focus on the NICE Award), and it also wants to foster discussion.

Subsequently, two short feature films about the project will be shot: On September 6th and 7th, the WAM students will pay a visit to the NICE Award day and the Forum Europe Ruhr with their film equipment and also conduct interviews with relevant contact persons and guests there. In this way, the students will build up first contacts in culture and creative economy and gather more practical experience – from concept to the design of the directing and shooting schedules until final cut, the students themselves will be responsible for the project.

Over the course of the the last weeks, the preparations were in full swing. In consultation with ecce, they developed concepts and directing schedules as well as different ideas in order to plan and perfect the short films about the event days. On August 31st, the students visited the Essen Philharmonic, the site of this year’s Forum Europe Ruhr and the NICE Award, together with their ecce contact persons, to get acquainted with the venue for the shoot and to go into detail regarding schedules.
