The aim of the cooperation is to culturally contribute to future-oriented policies by bringing together Europe's business leaders and experts  from the economy, politics, media, science, and culture. The 5th edition of the Forum d'Avignon Ruhr took place on 24/25 August 2016 in the city of Essen.

THE ProgrammE

Artists and creative minds, politicians, entrepreneurs and scientists from throughout Europe were attending the Forum d'Avignon Ruhr 2016 to discuss creativity as an ever-present ray of hope and its potential for more traditional areas of large-scale industry, the new digital economy and ultimately for culture itself. Business concerns were compared to their cultural counterparts, urban visionaries and artists presented remarkable projects, while the Forum also sought to test the limits of creativity.

The presentation of the N.I.C.E Award, the European prize for innovations in culture and creativity endowed with 20,000 euros in prize money, was one of the highlights during the Forum.

With the extended format "Meet & Match", the Forum d'Avignon Ruhr offered a platform for networking and dialogue. Institutions, cities and municipal governments, but also researchers, founders and other players from the Creative Industries could engage in direct communication on potential and existing collaborations as well as concepts, discover innovative ideas, and benefit from the knowledge and practical experience of other participants.
