ecce - european centre for creative economy

EUROPE

To position the Ruhr area as a location for creativity in Europe, ecce is involved in European partnerships and networks. Thanks to the continuous exchange of knowledge between Europe and the Ruhr region and a representation in EU bodies the cultural industry can be strengthened.

Regional - Europe-Wide

ecce has a regional and European focus. One of its main tasks is to create and maintain European networks for the cultural metropolis Ruhr. ecce wants to give an impetus to the European debate and to make available EU subsidies for regional culture and creative industries. In an international context, cultural goods and creative services are getting more and more important. At the same time, the immaterial value creation is an important USP for Europe. In order to remain successful in the future, European networks are essential for regional culture and creative industries. As part of the EU’s growth strategy "Europe 2020" the European Commission supports integrative specialisations and cross-sectoral strategies (spillovers) to create economic growth and new jobs. The strategy explicitly includes culture and creative industries. Programmes such as "Creative Europe" make an essential contribution to Europe’s cultural and creative economic policies. With its activities across Europe, ecce wants to continue projects and measures that were initiated during the European Capital of Culture RUHR.2010 on the one hand and to develop new concepts in connection with "Europe 2020" on the other.
